ALU is a fresh and unconventional firm and has been right from its origins.
It grew out of an idea that flashed across the mind of Lino Manfrotto when, in 1987, he was at the New York trade fair observing the success of the Autopole product, invented by the family firm and intended for photographers’ studios: dozens of creative visual people used it to install retail spaces and windows.

A year later, ALU opened its first show room in New York devoted exclusively to retail.
A few years after that, and out of the success in the American market, the company, whose headquarters were in Italy, decided to offer its products to the European and other international markets as well.

ALU today is a specialist in design and manufacturing of premium point of sales fixtures and modular merchandising systems for retail environments. Thanks to a wide range of products, innovative design, efficient logistics, customer oriented service and its ability to handle standard, personalised and complex bespoke projects, ALU is an all-round solution provider.

    BEDS
The inspiration for the new line of beds sprang from the collection of sofas and
accessories produced last year. The idea is to carry forward the play on classic
materials – linen and cotton – whilst overstating the sense of comfort and intimacy,
and maintaining the simplicity of the concept.
The beds are built on a wooden platform, finished using a special painting technique
to give a vintage effect. Solidly supported on iron feet, the structure comes with two
different options for the headboard: either standard or oversized, the latter of which
includes space for two bedside tables, creating a private area between the bed and
the room in which it is set.

This overplayed form gives the bed a strong character, whilst the linen fabric adds a
    sense of delicate sophistication.

The other version of the bed is the next step in the evolution of the soft, comfortable
sofa, with big, squashy cushions that confer a modern, delicate appeal.

    Tulp Firemakers
Het verhaal van TULP is een verhaal van passie voor vuur. Een goed gesprek terwijl je samen in de vlammen tuurt. Genieten van mooie momenten, bij haarden met pure ontwerpen. Geloven in tijdloze ontwerpen.

Vernieuwende materiaalkeuzes. Werken met onverwachte invalshoeken. Mooie herinneringen aan een warme avond… Elke haard heeft z’n eigen verhaal.

    Frame Publishers
Frame Publishers is an international publishing house based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Robert Thiemann, editor in chief, and Peter Huiberts, publisher, started Frame magazine in the belief that interior design needed an inspiring trade journal that would go beyond residential environments. The magazine they created focuses on exciting, often mind-blowing interiors. Currently distributed in over 52 countries, Frame is considered an authoritative resource in the world of design.

In 2001 Frame Publishers introduced its first book, a monograph devoted to the work of Fabio Novembre. In the ensuing decade, it was followed by a virtual flood of volumes on design, designers, architecture, and materials. This year and next will see the publication of seven new titles: a range of books covering subjects as diverse as the design of trade-fair stands and the in-depth exploration of color.

Frame Publishers added a new publication to its operation in 2005 with the launch of Mark: Another Architecture, a trade journal aimed at an international readership made up of architects, designers, and everyone with a passion for contemporary architecture in all its guises. Mark showcases the latest and best architecture projects from all corners of the world. Like Frame, Mark is distributed in more than 52 countries.

The latest Frame Publishers project is another remarkable magazine, this time dedicated to highlights illuminating the world of art. Elephant: The Art & Visual Culture Magazine, which was launched at the Frankfurt book fair in October 2009, is under the leadership of editor in chief Marc Valli, owner of the Magma Design bookstores.
